I am Bertil. Multi-talented, they often say. That is true, because without false modesty, I have a versatile life full of unique experiences, which I like to take with me in my work as the owner of Studio Bertil.
Creating
I maneuvered through my youth by drawing. At the age of four, I drew my first comic strips. At school, I had people laughing with the striking caricatures that I liked to make of both teachers and classmates. Creating something that appeals to people. That’s what drives me.
Composing
Instead of a pencil or a brush, I also regularly held drumsticks in my hand. Music is my second driving force. I drum, play guitar and keyboard, I sing a bit and I compose.
In the 90s, I toured Europe three times as a drummer for a KISS tribute band. There I shared the stage with original members of KISS for an average audience of 1500 people per evening.
After that, I was regularly hired as a drummer to accompany big names like Elton John, Laura Pausini and Matthias Reim in German TV shows. All unforgettable experiences.
In 2016 I released my first CD: Kingfisher – The Emptiness Outside Of Me and a related e-book about composing: 1-2-3-4 | Revelations of a songwriter.
Composing custom music is also one of my activities.
Acting
While I was working on setting up my own advertising agency in 2000, I appeared as a model and actor in various TV series, commercials and photo shoots for major brands.
I have now had a successful advertising agency for almost 25 years. In addition, when my time permits, I regularly work from casting agencies.
And further
I also like to focus on how I grow older in a vital and fit way. I do this through fitness, kickboxing and eating healthy every day.
Where do I find the time? Discipline and planning; I get up early every day and work according to a schedule that is pleasant, productive and effective.
The more structure, the more space in my head to let my creativity run free.
Then I feel at my best!
